Why is there a no phone policy in the US Customs and Border?
The inspectors have a serious job to do and having a person being inspected answering the phone in the middle of having their baggage checked is interrupting official government business. There is only one reason why you are in that room. If everyone starts answering phones, it wastes the inspectors valuable time and suggests that their job is less important than whoever calls you.
